Most kids played house. Joseph played office—in a basement, on a concrete floor, running imaginary companies long before he knew what a balance sheet was. Entrepreneurship may not have been the game he meant to play back then, but it was clearly already in his DNA.

Joseph’s path into the world of finance kicked off in 2008 with a tax internship at RSM McGladrey in Minneapolis. That hands‑on experience didn’t just sharpen his technical skills—it opened his eyes to how real businesses operate, scale, and grow. He was offered a full‑time position after graduation, but an instinctive mix of curiosity, gut feeling, and geographic ties pulled him back to Fargo to finish school and continue defining his own path.

From 2008 to 2012, Joseph jumped into the private sector, applying his accounting strengths across industries—hotels, financial institutions, and small‑business consulting. Those roles didn’t just build a résumé; they built an entrepreneurial mindset. Problem‑solving. Operational insight. The ability to see numbers not as data points but as the story behind every business decision. Eventually, that diverse experience led him into a full‑time public accounting career.

Numbers have always played a major role in Joseph’s life—even leading him to his wife, Alyssa, whom he met in a TAX 101 class at NDSU. Today, they share more than a love for good spreadsheets; they share a love for marshmallows, hot tamales, and building a life rooted in family and purpose.

A lifelong sports fan, Joseph grew up admiring Minnesota Twins legend Kirby Puckett. “Be The Best You Can Be” wasn’t just a quote—it became a personal mantra. And while Joseph is a CPA at heart, he’s also been known to break out of his professional shell—like the time he caught a Florida Georgia Line beach concert in Cancun while they were filming a music video next to his resort.

But no matter how many clients he helps, spreadsheets he conquers, or entrepreneurial ideas he chases, Joseph’s favorite title is dad. At the end of every day, he loves coming home to his wife, Alyssa, and their two kids—Braxton and Keasha.
